Breakfast in Alexander Inn
The Alexander Inn is a historic building with much of its charm intact. It's in a wonderful neighborhood full of cafes, restaurants, shops and galleries that is a destination in itself, but also with convenient access to most of Philadelphia's "attractions." I gave it 10 stars—and it is 10 stars for an older historic property. Don't expect super-modern rooms or shiny new fixtures, but do expect old-fashioned excellent customer service and a stellar location. There are real glasses in the room (not plastic-enclosed plastic cups). We had a Queen Deluxe room which is on a corner of the building with views in two directions. The breakfast buffet offers a selection of cereals & pastries and the coffee is excellent. The same dining room at 5 p.m. is set up for a "wine social" with wine, beer, and a beautiful array of goodies like fresh berries, nuts, chocolates, veggies and more. Every person on the staff was over-the-top helpful and kind. We loved it.

Excellent location in a charming neighborhood, within walking distance to pretty much everything important. 10/10 Lovely receptionist when we checked in, unfortunately I don't remember her name or I would give her a personal shout-out. 10/10 Complimentary wine and cheese happy hour and breakfast. Not a huge choice, but it does the truck and it's a nice bonus, especially considering the price of the room. 8/10 Room was nice and fairly spacious, we even had space to sit around the table and play a family game. The beds were comfy, could have been slightly bigger but all good overall. Bathroom was small (this was expected), but functional and had everything we needed. Shower had good pressure. 8/10

The staff! Every single person with whom we interacted went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Jay, at the front desk, helped us sort out an error we had made when booking and helped us get a more comfortable space. Two other front desk associates helped us when our plans allowed us to book for an additional night. Housekeeping staff were friendly and warm, gave advice on places to see and routes to take, and kept our room clean and comfortable. I was beyond impressed with every staff member at this hotel and will absolutely stay again. The location is also great!

The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood. During day time and evening, there are quite some people walking and running on the street. The room is very small the overall the hotel is very classy and unique. The front desk staff is very helpful and nice. The AC in the room is quite loud but i simply turn it off during sleep so it didn’t really bother me. There’s quite some dust on the window blinds and there’s dried traces of fluid on the wooden wall table (but again i don’t really mind).

Loved the location and staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel had drinks meet and greet in the early evening where we met folks from different areas of the Country. We came in a rental car and there was a parking garage just down the street next to a CVS and Starbucks. We walked from/back to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell - everything was located less than a miles away - with lots of things to look at while walking there.
